Witches at Garden Studios: Production Case Study
This report gives details of the extraordinary work done in planning and executing reuse as part of the workflow in a production at Garden Studios. By planning with the end in mind and seeking new uses for production assets and sets the team were able to achieve a very high reuse rate. Highlights include:
Ceiling Deconstruction and Reuse: The suspended ceiling was taken down with one tile damaged; all other tiles and the grid structure are as new and fully reusable. Wiring was preserved for re-attachment.
Walls and Windows Deconstruction: Walls and windows were fully deconstructed while skirting boards and architraves were left intact for reuse. Braces were kept as is, and 80% of screws and washers were salvaged for reuse.
Material Categorization and Collection: All set construction materials have been categorized and are ready for collection, ensuring organized reuse and recycling.
Rental Equipment Preparation: Rental equipment has been prepared and is ready for collection, supporting ongoing construction activities.
Reuse of Flats for Artist Studios: Flats have been repurposed and used in the construction of artist studios at Republic of Park Royal.
