Every year, thousands of sets enjoy their moment in the spotlight, then are consigned to landfill – or, at best, placed in storage on the off chance they might be useful down the line. ReStage helps the Screen and Stage sectors to decarbonise and meet the requirements of the Theatre Green Book and Bafta Albert by championing the skills, spaces and R&D needed to start with reuse and design out waste.
Core activities
1. A network of reuse hubs for the creative sector
Building on a survey of UK circular hubs we have identified the need for a network to share knowledge and gather evidence to make the case for investment in this new and critical at risk infrastructure.
2. A collaborative R&D programme for modular sets for screen and stage
We bring together designers, fabricators, venues and producers in stage and screen to share and refine their experiments and pilots with modular sets to avoid waste.
3. A permanent home for a reuse
hub in London
While piloting deconstruction and reuse of sets in Bermondsey with the National Theatre we are seeking a permanent home for reuse for the screen and stage sectors in London.
