ReStage is building a zero-waste economy for theatre.
Every year, thousands of sets enjoy their moment in the spotlight, then are consigned to landfill – or, at best, placed in storage on the off chance they might be useful down the line. ReStage helps the theatre sector to decarbonise and meet the requirements of the Theatre Green Book by creating a place to disassemble and refurbish used sets ready for reuse in new designs.
By sourcing, storing and supplying set-construction materials and staging components for venues of all sizes, we aim to offer set designers, builders, producers and theatre-makers an easy-to-navigate selection of reusable elements from which to bring their productions to life. Through our network and innovation and training programmes, we will encourage designers to build with reuse in mind. We will help theatres and performing arts venues in and around London to adopt zero-waste approaches to set construction, taking theatre a step closer to sustainability.
The ReStage journey is beginning with a pilot project in London and the establishment of a network of committed professionals across the UK and beyond.
